The framework was developed so that education can be designed in such a way as to enable customisation and flexibility and to fit in with a constantly changing society.
The framework consists of four main dimensions of digital competencies of lecturers. Lecturers can use the dimensions to discuss their own development. Am I digitally literate enough? Can I implement and evaluate (innovative) education with IT? Am I open to innovation? Can I equip my students for the digital society?
