The model sets out the building blocks for effective professional development aimed at educational innovation with ICT in higher education. Building on this study, a follow-up study was conducted to increase the model’s practical usefulness. Based on the results, the zone has updated the model and the building blocks in version 2.0.

Based on both a review of (practice-based) literature and discussions with experts, the Facilitating Professional Development for Lecturers zone, together with iXperium Centre of Expertise Leren met ict, has developed an initial model for the professional development of lecturers.
